[The Baby Daddy Chronicles]: A Day for [hating] Daddy

IV – The Love of [Child Support] is the Root of All Evil
– A Day for [hating] Daddy

I will start this installment off by warning you all. This is a rant. Much like my other rants, you should expect shock-inducing and polarizing statements communicated with the use of foul and/or vulgar language… but hey, if I were a stage comedian it’d be okay, so fuck it.

Next I will say: Happy Father’s Day to every man who accepts the role and responsibility of raising your children. Parenting doesn’t require praise, and we don’t ask for it… but it’s nice to have our own day where we can be appreciated as fathers… without having the intent of the day’s celebrations clouded by the general public’s misguided emo-trips on the internet.

I wasn’t sure what to entitle this blog. I was going to go with “Fuck you bitter daddiless bitches”… or “Fuck that bitch, it’s Father’s Day”…. and of course “Fuck yo Daddy?… that’s what ya mama did.” But I didn’t do that… so at least give me some credit there.

However I am writing today to express my discontent with the lack of mind people pay to “Father’s Day” as it is actually supposed to be celebrated. This is something I hate more than Turkey Bacon or Mass Text Messages… Read the rest of this entry »

[The Baby Daddy Chronicles]: The Love of [Child Support] is the Root of All Evil

III – Dating the Damaged
IV – The Love of [Child Support] is the Root of All Evil

Child Support is a program established by State government law that dictates the amount a non-custodial parent should pay in dollars to ensure their child’s upbringing. These laws are built from two foundational understandings:

  1. It is always the biological parents’ responsibility to ensure their children have access to the [financial] resources they need for a “proper” upbringing.
  2. In our society, financial responsibility is the first responsibility of a parent and it cannot be bypassed… even by actual parenting.

The benefit of Child Support is difficult to argue against. However based on our prior analysis of how some fathers are introduced to this life role and responsibility, it’s odd how the laws are often interpreted. Read the rest of this entry »

[KL:Consideration]: Reciprocity: The Foundation of Our Happiness

Reciprocity: The Foundation of Our Happiness

The trade of consideration is scarce these days…. so how do we make good decisions about who to trust with our most coveted asset, our consideration? And furthermore, how can we ensure that the return of our consideration will continue to make/keep us happy? (YOU CAN SCROLL DOWN TO THE “SKIP” MARKER IF YOU ARE A LAZY READER…)
—————————

These two questions were asked last time… and I must now be honest with you all… these are technically “trick questions”… there is no single resolute answer, but you knew that.

Vitriol of the Vaunted and Vicariously Victorious

The 2011 NBA Champion - Dallas Mavericks

I want to start this article by saying congratulations to the Dallas Mavericks. I was one critic who stated that the franchise would NEVER achieve a ring with Dirk as their leader. Not only did he prove me and other critics wrong, but the Mavericks have shed their “soft” persona while playing amazingly tough lock-down defense on three of the leagues most prolific scorers (Kobe, Durant, LBJ) throughout the playoffs. The path of this franchise and their season dictates that they truly deserved a shot at proving they were the best team in the league, and they did just that.

What is sad is that most “fans of the game” will not see this; only the fans of Dallas can appreciate how well Dallas played as opposed to how far “King James” fell short of his predicted outcome… even though LBJ has never scored more than 24 points on the Mavericks in ANY contest. [KL:Consideration]: Consideration Accounting 101

The King’s Law on Consideration

I – To consider or not to consider, that is the “?”
II – Let’s be honest about honesty…
III – Honesty’s Gray Area
IV – Egocentrism and Honesty
V – The Consideration of Time
VI – The Consideration of Self
VII – Consideration Accounting 101

If you missed the last blog (The Consideration of Self) about “happiness”, essentially all you need to get from it is that “happiness” exists when you have something to be happy about… when things/people that make you happy are present.

The reason for this is simple… Ownership. People love (the illusion of) having things. Ownership implies comfort, convenience, satisfaction, and availability. Ownership provides security and thus a sense of stability. However, when those things we’d like to claim are not there, we are insecure because there is no guarantee that we can access, use, and thus be satisfied by the object of our happiness. That’s because we view these objects as:

property – noun
something at the disposal of a person, a group of persons, or the community or public

Today I thought of an interesting analogy to discuss this, however I’m afraid that it may only be appealing to people who enjoy financial talk… but I’ll keep the schooliness out of it as much as possible. (However this is definitely a good supplemental read for an introductory Accounting course) Read the rest of this entry »

[KL:Consideration]: The Consideration of Self

The King’s Law on Consideration

IV – Egocentrism and Honesty

*******THIS IS A POST I MADE IN THE ‘KING’S LAW ON CONSIDERATION’ SERIES THAT WAS WRITTEN DURING THE WINTER OF 2008… THE WARRANTS STILL MAKE SENSE AT ANYTIME OF ANY YEAR… ENJOY*******

“You might as well have fun, ’cause your happiness is done and your goose is cooked.”

I’m thankful for true friends. I understand that they cannot all be there when you call, and they may not have the answers… but true friends will look after you and try to get you headed in the right direction, no matter how it may impact your emotions today (honesty). Even if it’s only one person today, I’m happy to know I matter to somebody.

A couple of years back, I was sitting at work, thinking about how over “time” days that were supposed to be meaningful have grown to be more and more… well less. Easters, Christmases, New Years, Birthdays… they mattered less to others, and in turn mattered less to me. At this point, the thought of receiving a gift is farfetched… I’d be surprised if I could pay people to care about me on these days. Yet… it’s common to say “happy” or “merry” when mentioning these days as if it is assumed that everyone shares that emotion because of what day it is.

For the first time in my young adult old life, I was able to say I know what it feels like to be alone on the holidays… it sucks… it’s depressing. Read the rest of this entry »

Good Ass Job: A Toast to the “Sellouts”

People do indeed make the world go round. They shape the world, make decisions that affect the world, and impose values that change the world…. for better or for worse.

In a previous King’s Law entry I discussed how we allow others to impose illusions of opportunity upon us within our careers, just to make our jobs harder (or seemingly so). We continue to deal with it in order to afford ourselves the thing’s that our hearts desire.

Sadly, we know that most of us will never have everything that we want. We’ll end up prioritizing what is most important, and making deals to “get the most, not the lesser” (Pimp C).

At the end of the last blog I stated that we should define what makes us happy and live for it… conversely because you can’t always get what you want…

Chlamydia Koalas

In a world where Magic Johnson has the cure for AIDS in his bloodstream, you would think we could fix this…

Someone done fucked up all of the Koala Pussy...

The world’s koala population is being ravaged by an epidemic that would seem at odds with the animal’s image as the cuddly emblem of Australia. According to researchers, 50 to 80 percent of the marsupials are infected with a disease commonly associated with human promiscuity: chlamydia.

That’s right, chlamydia. The situation is so dire, in fact, that experts fear the koala may become extinct in a few decades if a vaccine isn’t developed.  Read More Here…

Just a reminder… Koalas have the liberty of being trifling and not going to the clinic… But that shouldn’t be an excuse for you.

KING’S LAW: Leave them Koala Pussy Hoes alone… unless you want to be endangered.
